Well this is it. This is what I want to do with my life. What joy, beauty and love. Sarah Tew, you are such a talent! (Link in title)
How romantic is this little spot in the Cairns Botanical Gardens!
Each week, I am going to check out a new spot in Cairns, and scout for great locations for photoshoots. As I am new up here, I encourage you to let me know where the good/ pretty spots are! Yesterday, I hit up the botanical gardens, and I am in love! Once I go through the photos, I will post up my first week for ‘Location Location’
As promised, Ive taken some shots of a day in the life up here in Cairns. Looking back, its not all that exciting, but gives some perspective to what its like to live in the tropics!
The day starts off at 6.30am, as I get ready to drive Elliot into Cairns for work. This morning, we woke to a rain shower, which was a bit unusual. We have found this wet season to be rather dry, and any showers seem to come in the afternoon or evening.
Once home, I got on with general house wife duties, and made sure our flat is looking smicko. In contrast to what Elliot might think, I am very house proud, and love it when its looking sparkling clean. I’m trying to make the most of that before my Masters starts in just over a week.
After that, I got down to answering emails, updating my Facebook, Blog and Twitter and taking some notes for business progression. Can’t do all of that without a cuppa!
After this, I headed downstairs to check the mail. We live in a resort, and right across the road is the beach. I couldn’t resist snapping a few shots on my walk to the mailbox.
After all this, I had an appointment with the audiologist which didn’t go so well. It appears that I have otosclerosis (look here for more info if interested http://www.entnet.org/HealthInformation/otosclerosis.cfm). Now I need to consider my options, which appears to be either hearing aids, or invasive surgery.
After, I had a tutoring session for my student James who has aspergers. He is a gorgeous, sweet young man, and I feel as though we are going to get on great!
So basically, thats a current day in the life up here. I start my Masters Monday week, so I am hesitant to apply for too many jobs until I know more about the workload for that. I miss home and my family and friends like crazy. It is paradise here, and we are in a great position, but its hard knowing everything else you love isn’t directly with you. I know I have crazy support from home though 🙂 I’m hoping soon Ill make some new friends up here too, but that will all come with time. I am just enjoying my free time at the moment with my best friend 🙂
A face to the name
My very first shoot was an engagement shoot for two very close friends, we shall call them B and M. I have known B for about four years, and it was an honour to be asked to shoot her engagement photos. Lots of kisses, laughs and fun!
The shoot took place in Port Adelaide, with the focus being on the history and industrial nature of the town.
I love this couple.
Tomorrow is Valentines Day. The day couples are forced to stress about gifts, money and dinner reservations. Not for us. Elliot’s working and I am having my hearing tested. How romantic! Heres hoping I can get some couples interested in my Valentines day special! To be honest, Valentines has crept up on me and as usual, I am way under prepared, so I dont hold high expectations on all this!
